We had a great Labor Day weekend. I miss having Caton around as much as I did when we were in school, so it was good to have him home for a couple of days. And for our Labor Day celebration...we did some LABOR! I very skillfully talked Caton into refinishing our bedroom furniture. He thought it was a terrible idea...too much work, but I promised that he would only have to help me move the heavy things and that I would do most of the work. So he agreed to indulge me.
Early Monday morning we went to Lowes with our internet-researched list of supplies, got what we needed, and then began our first real home improvement adventure. We had decided to paint our dressers instead of stain them so after a thorough sanding, we started spraying on the primer. Even though I was the one who began this whole endeavor, I was quickly FIRED by Caton because I was complaining about my finger cramping from spray painting. Caton took over and I got to "supervise!" Caton did everything! And truthfully, I think he did better than I ever would have.
So less than $100 dollars later, we ended up with two beautiful dressers! I love them! Our bedroom is finally coming together and I am so proud of Caton's masterful painting! Although now he claims that it was HIS idea to refinish our dressers...hmmm...
Here are some before and after pictures:

These are not the actual dressers that we painted. I forgot to take "before" pictures of the ones we painted. But these are the remaining pieces of the original bedroom set. These pieces are in Layla's room.

The color is not very accurate in the pictures I took. It is a very deep brown...not so red.

Yea! how fun! don't you love it when you feel resourceful! (plus, you got Caton to do the work. Bonus!) I mean, - you did the hard part right? - picking out colors, researching supplies, and trying to get everything just right to tie the room together. We all know who's the brain power behind these projects. Congratulations.
However, I still haven't seen any Sunday confessions!
