So my cute friend Audra has this post on her blog listing the reasons her little 2 year old boy qualifies as their family pet. Lately, I have been thinking the same thing about Jack.
Layla has been wanting a real dog for sometime now. I am not a dog person and so I have exhausted every excuse not to get one. Perhaps I can convince her that Jack is just as entertaining.
Most mornings, before Caton leaves for work, we go through our usual morning routine: Caton gets up and gets ready while I slowly regain consciousness, Caton brings Jack and Layla into our room and onto our bed while I still struggle to wake up, Layla fishes for compliments about how obedient she was in her sleep and recounts last night's princess dream, and then...we ask Jack to preform his repertoire of "tricks".
"Jack, brush your teeth" He sticks his finger in his mouth and says "ahhh!"
"Jack, say a prayer" He folds his arms, bows his head, and mumbles some gibberish
"Jack, give kisses" He starts out puckered, but you have to watch out for the last minute open mouth
"Jack, give hugs"
"Jack, say 'Uh Oh'"
"Jack, pick your nose" Caton taught him this one and Jack has perfected it with two fingers
All we need to do is teach him to "roll over" and "stay" and I think we might have a real family dog.
(Sorry I copied your post Audra...I lack your originality.)

I'm just happy to hear my boy's not the only one out there. Although Jack's tricks sound much cuter than some of the antics Luke pulled in Sacrament meeting today (you have some real fun to look forward to maybe). Sorry to hear about you guys being sick. We went through that in early November and I'm still scarred from it. I think at some point I actually started throwing away some clothes because I just couldn't stand to scrub vomit off of one more thing! It's all lost in a Pepto Bismal-like mental haze.
