What we do most days...

Typically we stay in our pajamas until we actually have to be somewhere. Layla always wakes up wanting breakfast and a movie. I usually give in just because I like to take some time to wake up, check my email, and eat my own breakfast in peace. After her morning movie, Jack and Layla will play.

Layla is really good at imaginary play and will usually mother all 10 of her babies/stuffed animals--including her newest baby, Lenda (pictured), who just may be the ugliest toy baby I have every seen. Mothering includes: pregnancy (all the babies go under her shirt), birth (they all fall out of her shirt--if only it were that easy), feeding, a brief cry, and nap time (which sometimes lasts all day).

Meanwhile, Jack plays by me. He will usually let me read a book or do some other chore, but he likes to keep me in his sights. Today he found endless entertainment putting on Layla's black church shoes while carrying around my empty camera case. He usually has no pants with his onesie unsnapped, flapping around in back because he is a pain at diaper changes. I try to encourage him to "go see Layla" which usually only produces a huge grin--like I made some kind of joke--then the word "LaLa" repeated over and over for the next five minutes.

Sometimes we really feel a little crazy waiting out this winter weather. But sometimes casual, lazy, pajama days are nice.

This totally made me laugh. My kids like to start their day with TV too. We're not exactly fast movers in the morning, although I do consider it a huge achievement that I now regularly shower before 8:30 am.
