A few conversations to remember...

Today Layla and I were talking and she asked me about heaven. 

Me: Did you know that you lived in heaven before you were born and that when you die, you will go back to heaven?
Layla: I know-ded that. I don't remember heaven, do you?
Me: No, but I know that Heavenly Father lives there...and Jesus.
Layla: And Great-Grandpa Whitehair (my dad's dad) and Baby Thomas (her cousin) and President Hinckley...
Me: And when we die our spirits will go to heaven and we can all live together as a family.
Layla: Will Jack be there?
Me: Eventually
Layla: Will Daddy be there?
Me: Yep
Layla: And you?
Me: Yep
Layla: And grandma and grandpa and....(names everyone she can think of)...
Me: Yep, yep, yep....
Layla: (thinks) That's a lot of people. (thinks again) Maybe when we are done living in Heaven we can move somewhere else, because I don't think Heaven has a basement.

(For those that don't get why that's funny, I have been obsessed with finding a house with a basement because we need more room. Layla must have picked up on the basement idea.)

A later conversation:

Layla: Mommy, do I have faith?
Me: I don't know, do you?
Layla: I don't know...
Me: Well, do you believe in Heavenly Father?
Layla: Yes
Me: Do you believe in Jesus?
Layla: Yes
Me: Do you believe in heaven?
Layla: Yes...(thinks, then gets really excited)...AND I BELIEVE IN FAIRIES! I DO HAVE FAITH!

I just love this little girl. I love her logic and her understanding of pretty complex issues. She is honest and sweet and sensitive. It is a joy and a blessing to teach her about her Heavenly Father and her purpose in this life. I hope she always knows how special she is and how blessed I feel that she is part of our family.
