Now that we are in a new place, I am trying to decorate and make it feel more like home. Since we are just renting, I am trying not to waste money on permanent things like paint, window treatments, shelving, fixtures, etc. My challenge is to find things that I love that will easily fit in our next place (hopefully something that will be ours for a while).
The white walls are literally blinding, so I have been trying to create a comfortable retreat in our master bedroom without changing the wall color. We got new dressers (which I love) and I found a couple little treasures to bring my style into the room.
I found this vase for $7! And while Caton thought it was the ugliest thing ever, I had a vision and in the end, I think it fit perfectly.
And then I filled the vase with these cute little star things....I love them!
I got some pillows to add color and lamps for lighting, but by far the coolest item in the room was made....(drum roll)...by me! The black and white pictures on the wall are the finished result of a project I did all by myself! And I LOVE THEM!
I stood everyone against the white walls and took pictures of them making faces. I cropped, edited, and ordered 12x12 prints from mpix.com. Then I got 12x12 wood boards, painted them black and decoupaged the pictures to the boards. I seriously think they are the cutest things and I love each face that Jack and Layla are making. The shot of me was not my favorite, but I had Layla take the pictures of me and that was the only one that wasn't blurry.
So my room is looking a bit better. I still need a few more things (some additional seating, a headboard, etc.) and I am still dying to get some color on the walls, but I will hold off as long as I can.

cute Michelle! My favorite part was when Caton hated your vase selection. Classic Hanson brother response!
