books...

I love to read. It is a gift and a curse. A gift because I can lose myself entirely to the characters and plots. I cry when they cry and nearly die with frustration during conflicts. I love being able to open a book and just forget about everything else for a few hours.

And I guess that's where the curse part comes in...I literally forget about everything for hours at a time. My poor kids, my poor husband, my poor house...it all goes away when I read. I think one of my life's great challenges is finding balance in what I do. I tend to be an all or nothing type girl. I guess I just have to find a way to enjoy reading without losing touch with the "real world."

And speaking of reading...I just finished a great series by Sandra Gulland (The Many Lives and Secret Sorrows of Josephine B., Tales of Passion, Tales of Woe, and The Last Great Dance on Earth). I have said it many times before, but I cannot stand to read non-fiction. I have tried and tried but I just can't...too boring. So I make do with historical fiction. This series was particularly interesting. It depicts the lives of Napoleon and Josephine Bonaparte through Josephine's fictional journal entries. So fascinating! I literally could not put the book down (or in this case, my iphone with it's Amazon Kindle application...but that is another story for another post). I recommend it to any romantic (open or closeted) or to anyone interested in Napoleon's story. I loved it.

It's hard to pick a good book to follow up a great read but I am always looking. If anyone has a suggestion, let me know!

For some reason, my library doesn't have this. Maybe it does and it isn't showing up in the catalog. I am going to have to break down and ask someone! Grrr...Thanks for the recommendation. I'm always on the lookout.

There are two people I trust completely when it comes to books: you and my mom. ha! I love when you recommend books. Remember when Belize and I couldn't pick out a book at Barnes and Noble without your blessing over the phone?

This one looks great. I love historical fiction.
