Jack turned three today. He was a little confused because I think he was convinced that Halloween was a personal birthday celebration just for him. But once he caught on that there was another day of presents and cake awaiting...he was very excited. He got almost everything on his b-day wish list: tools, baseball glove, roller skates (random, but he really wanted them). We had yet another dinner with everyone (aunts, uncles, cousins, and my mom) and then dug into the awesome Buzz Lightyear cake I made. Birthday success!
Here are a few things about my little Jack:
The kid is almost always happy. Mischievous, but happy. He rarely throws tantrums and when he does, he is easily reasoned with. As long as you give him a reasonable alternative or explanation, he is fine.
Jack is like a little puppy. He is snugly for a few minutes and then loves to wrestle. He runs around laughing and playing and I often find myself tripping over him as I walk around the house.
He loves to play with Layla. She is his best friend. When she goes to school, he begs to go with her. When she reads, he imitates. Jack is Layla's biggest fan. And I love it!
Jack says the funniest things and makes the funniest faces. I think he gets that from his dad...
Jack is very quick to say sorry and truly feels remorse when he does something wrong. I often feel bad after scolding him because he apologizes so sincerely. I end up just squeezing him and kissing him instead of sending him to time-out.
He comes down every morning to our bedroom, jumps in the doorway and says..."Ta-da!" Sometimes clothed...and sometimes not.
He sings "I Love to See the Temple" every time we drive by the temple. He sings it every night before he goes to bed. He sings it while playing. And every time he sings it, he demands everyone to be quiet and listen. It's probably the sweetest thing I have ever heard.
He loves his dad. He has to be just like his dad. He has to dress like him, watch baseball with him, run errands with him...everything has to be just like dad.
Jack is fun and happy and playful. He provides us with endless amusement and I am excited for him to be a big brother. I can't believe he is three. If I wasn't pregnant with another boy, I think I would cry everyday seeing my little baby boy grow up. There is something about baby boys that just gets me and melts my heart. I don't want it to ever end.
