We decided to take our 2 week old baby with us on a road trip to California for the 4th of July. Why not, right? Caton had planned to just take Layla and Jack but at the last minute, I decided to go. We braved the 11 hour drive with 4 kids for a few reasons:
1) We had tickets to sit by President Uchtdorf at the Dodger game. It was Mormon Night and President Uchtdorf was throwing out the first pitch. My dad was the honorary umpire. Caton and I were able to not only meet President Uchtdorf, but sit a few rows in front of him and talk to him a few times during the game. Caton and I believe that we are very tight with him now. Definitely an experience I couldn't miss.
2) I wanted to see Matt and Belize before they moved to North Carolina. And I wanted to see Ryan and Tricia who live in Florida and only visit us on special occasions.
3) I didn't want to be alone in an empty house for an entire week with a newborn and a 2 year old.
We had a great week. Lots of beach days and hours spent in the pool. S'mores and fireworks. Good food and fun visiting with cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. We were sad to leave.
