We have year round school here in South Jordan. I love it. Summers are quite short, but we have the whole rest of the year to make up for it. I love that my kids get a break every 9 weeks and that we get to travel when the weather is cooler and the crowds are smaller.
This year Layla (9) started 4th grade. Her teacher is Mrs. Schaetz and all of her best friends are in her class. Layla is a good student: does her homework on time, is organized, has me sign her planner everyday so that she doesn't miss anything or get in trouble.
Jack (6) in is 1st grade. His teacher is Miss Erickson. He has no friends from last year in his class, but that really doesn't bother Jack a bit. He told me that he isn't nervous and that "kids just like to be his friend." With that confidence, I doubt he will have any trouble making new friends. He learned how to read last year and is already getting better. He is really good at math (I think this stems from his obsession with making money) and loves to do his math homework 100 times more than his reading homework.
Isaac is starting preschool at Sunshine Square with Miss Leslie. I am most excited for him this year. I think he will love going to school and that school will help him become more expressive and vocal. He is such a loving boy and I hope everyone loves him right back.
So a few days a week, I will be a stay at home mother of one. What will that be like? One (compared to four) is so easy. I am excited.
In other news, my parents moved to South Africa this week. I have a million pictures of their Agoura house -- which they sold -- but I'll save those (and my thoughts) for another post.

Jack age 6
I like to call this next segment "The Unraveling of Jack." This is when he is done taking pictures but I bribe him with a treat if he will just give me one more smile.

Jack cracks me up! Yea for school! We start in 3 weeks and I am thrilled to have only one at home for a month! What will that be like? Let me know. ;)
Jack probably feels so confident because he has his lucky shirt on :)
