11457 Kestrel Rise Road

Well..we made it to Utah. Here is a quick summary of this weekend's events:

Friday:

8:00 pm We get on the road.
8:30 pm Layla vomits all over the back seat of my newly detailed car.
8:45 pm The backseat is cleaned with an entire pack of baby wipes and we are on the road again.
8:46 pm Try to listen Stephanie Meyer's new book on tape--The Host-- but am interrupted so frequently with Layla's insightful comments and observations ("Mommy, I see a rock shaped like a bunny" "Mommy, I am drawing a circle on my paper that looks like a bunny" "Mommy, my foot is hopping like a bunny") that I give up and turn on my "princess" ipod playlist instead.
12:00 pm We pull up to our hotel in Grand Junction, CO, get the kids and all the bags out of the car and into our room.

Saturday:

10:00 am We are about to get on the road when I unlock my car, open the door, and get blown over by the overpowering smell of vomit heating in the sun.
10:05 am Stop at a gas station and get vanilla car air freshener.
10:07 am Car now smells like vanilla vomit.
10:10 am I try again with the book on tape which immediately triggers Layla's question asking reflex yet again ("Mommy, did I through up last night?" "Mommy, are you mad that I threw up?" "Mommy, am I going to through up right now?").
2:00 pm We arrive at our new home in South Jordan.
2:05 pm We say hello to our nieghbors--the Kings--who moved out to Utah from Denver with us. Caton works with Levi King and we were lucky enough to find houses right next to each other.
3:00 pm Head to Lowes, IKEA, and Target to stock up on some needed supplies.
8:00 pm Meet up with old friends Mike, Lance, and Kelsey to catch up and do some good reminiscing. It was so much fun. We really miss our old friends.
12:00am Our friends leave and we finally put the kids to bed.

Sunday:

9:30 am We wake up with backaches from our air mattress.
10:00 am Caton heads over to the nearest church building to find out when and where our ward meets. Who is standing in the hall just as Caton walks in?? Only Elder Quinten L. Cook! The APOSTLE! Caton has a nice little conversation with him and even got an approving pat on the shoulder. Only in Utah are apostles just showing up at your church and hanging out in the halls.
11:00 am We join the Daybreak 11th Ward for Sacrament Meeting presided over by Elder Cook.
2:00 pm Church is over and we head over to the Kings for dinner.
5:00 pm Dinner is over and we head out to the park across the street for a little fresh air.
7:00 pm The kids are in bed and since we have no TV, Caton is assembling some new dressers for our room and I am stealing internet from a neighbor to surf the web and post on my blog.

All and all, this has been a great move. We are happy with our new house, with the neighborhood, and with our ward. I have no furniture or washer and dryer (they will arrive sometime this week). So I have no laundry to do, no dishes to clean, and no stuff to pick up. It's a little inconvenient but it's also kind of nice (except for the Ziplock bag I am trying to ignore full of vomit stained blankets and car seat covers that desperately need to be washed properly in a machine).
