aka the most dramatic event of the week...or month...or year...
Caton and I decided that it was time for Layla to learn to ride a bike. We made a big deal about going to Target, picked out a cute purple one (Layla's favorite color), and Layla quickly caught on to our enthusiasm. She waited impatiently for Caton to put it together and begged me to invite all of her friends over so they could witness her first bike ride (I didn't but she wanted me too). She mounted the bike and ever since that first movement forward it has been a disaster!
So much crying! "I'm scared" "I'm going too fast" "I'm going to fall" "Someone might be walking their dog" (what?...I know she is insanely afraid of dogs but still...what?) All this drama and we haven't even taken off her training wheels!
Today Caton was determined to teach her to be brave. More drama, more tears, a few timeouts. And it's not like we are making her do it. As soon as she cries and gets off her bike, we tell her "it's okay, we will try again later." That just escalates her tantrum because now we aren't letting her play with her new toy. And so she defiantly gets back on and the cycle continues. It's really getting ridiculous. Any suggestions?
Meanwhile, Jack enjoyed being pushed on Layla's bike. Even Caton "demonstrated" that Layla's bike was not at all scary.
Hopefully she will get over it. Honestly, where does this dramatic flair come from?

I think Caton should start riding that to work! Drama...are you really asking where she gets it from? ;)
Brody is getting a bike for his birthday this year, we'll see how it goes. He's funny now about riding his trike, whenever we have to cross the street he sits there for a minute making sure there aren't any cars in sight (I also have to assure him that there aren't any coming) and then he peddles as fast as he can until he reaches the other side. Maybe being cautious runs in the family. :)
we laughed out loud for a few minutes! I would have paid money to see that!!!
My favorite is the picture of your braver child, Jack Skywalker riding no problem with a big grin on his face...
ha ha ha
no suggestions, miles is scared of everything, just like his dad.
