bike riding and potty training...

Today was a a day for the record books - Layla learned how to ride a bike WITHOUT training wheels and Jack almost made it the entire day without any potty training accidents. And--I humbly add--I accomplished both these feats on my own as Caton is still on vacation. I know, I'm awesome...

You may remember Layla's first experience with riding a bike--and that was WITH training wheels. But peer pressure got the best of her and with the help of some magic elbow/knee pads and helmet, Layla felt confident enough to give riding solo a try. And despite some frustrated tears (from both of us), she persisted and voila...she can now ride a bike. And since Caton is out of town, Layla hatched a brilliant plan to trick her daddy into thinking she still needs help learning. When he gets home she plans to play dumb for a few minutes and then SURPRISE--show off her amazing skills. What a clever little girl!

And Jack is now almost, mostly, sort of potty trained. I never know when to completely announce victory as even the most savvy potty-trainees have accidents once in a while. We still have some "number two" issues to perfect, but he stayed mostly dry all day. That's something worth documenting...right? He is actually pretty easy to deal with so far. He really wants a blue bike and is working hard to stay dry in order to get one. Hopefully he will keep up the good work and my patience with see me through to the end.

In other news, Caton is coming home a few days early from his "man-cation." He called me today and so I am very happy that a) he is not dead, b) he had a great time, and c) he is coming home Friday instead of Monday. So only one more night alone for me. Yay!
