Layla, Layla, Layla...
I cannot believe that this little girl is 7 years old. Seven years ago she was just a little thing - a tiny, perfect little baby. I remember wanting time to go by quickly so that I could play with her and see what her personality would be like. Now I feel it went too fast.
Layla is the best little girl - everything a mother could ask for. She is sweet, sensitive, kind, loving, patient, beautiful, and the best, best, best helper. Seriously - sometimes I forget that she's still a child. She loves all things girly but then surprises us by jumping off a cliff at the lake or asking to learn karate or wakeboarding. She loves pedicures and new clothes but hates shopping (unless it's for her). She saves her allowance for things she really wants and takes good care of the toys she buys. She has finally learned to love first grade and although it was a struggle the first month to leave home for the day, she has made lots of friends and loves learning. She is reading Charlotte's Web every night and is excited to finish her first chapter book.
She is a budding artist. This year for her birthday we bought her a real art set and some "how to draw" books. She spends any extra time at the table drawing animals and princesses. Whenever I can't find her, I know that she has found a quiet place to draw. I hope that she will continue to draw and create if it makes her happy.
Layla is very quiet and calm and tidy. And although she can get silly and crazy, she is a welcome break from Jack (who is only calm when he's asleep). I love her so much and thank my Heavenly Father everyday for sending her to us. Happy Birthday sweetheart. We love you!
